Label Printing – New technology, even better results
Fraser Anti-Static Techniques prides itself on its dynamic network of distributors who cater for customer needs across the globe. Fraser distributor, Boussey-Control Europe, recently worked alongside its customer Serialetic to secure a new system of static control for its facilities.
Serialetic manufactures adhesive labels in screen and digital printing based in France. Founded in 2002, it uses the latest technologies in digital, screen printing, and flexographic varnishing, to create the highest quality products for customers.
Serialetic has used Fraser technology for many years, with the first Fraser bars installed in their facilities 14 years ago. A decision to upgrade their technology led them back to us to help them once again.
The static challenge
Serialetic manufacture adhesive labels in screen printing on complex lines. During this process static charge builds up on the material due to friction and contact and separation. The excess charge can prevent the material from advancing regularly. This can result in wasted product, production line delays and ultimately impact on profit. Implementing a static control solution removes this problem.
Through our French distributor. the Fraser team had installed 3pcs of 1250-S AC bars to combat the issue over 14 years ago, and these were now due an upgrade.
The upgrade
The Fraser team upgraded the current 1250-S AC bars to the newer 24V DC 3014 bars, which provide higher ionising power (7.5 kV) without the need for a separate power unit, all within the same dimensions as the AC bars being replaced.
After consultation from the Fraser team, the new bars were installed in a new layout to maximise their impact; one on the sheet cutter, one where the reel is unrolled, and one placed just after the sheet is cut. This allows them to have an ‘unloaded’ sheet pack that nests well and is ready to be cut or boxed. Without the bars, the sheets would adhere together and lead to higher rates of rejection.
The results
The upgraded technology has allowed Serialetic to continue manufacturing adhesive labels without any costly downtime or complicated installation processes. The newly installed 3014 DC bars also incorporate an operational and ‘clean-me’ status LED, to make maintenance and fault finding much easier.
Marc-Olivier Epitaux, Managing Director of Serialetic, said:
“We have been very pleased with the way the Fraser bars worked in our manufacturing processes over the years. However, when we realised new technology was available, we couldn’t wait to test it out.
The installation process was quick and easy with the help of the Fraser team, and so far, we are really impressed with how well they have worked. The bars have allowed for better ink deposition on the material, meaning we have a better print result.”
