Non-stop winding is frequently used on printing and converting applications where the machine cannot be stopped to swap a rewind reel when it is full. Static Generation provides temporary adhesion to begin the next reel. It replaces manual and automatic taping machines. One customer was using €100K of double-sided sticky tape each year throughout its factories.

Using electrostatics for non-stop wind/re-wind

A 7160 Generator Bar covering the full film width is positioned just before the knife, above the core in its reel-change position. An IONFIX Compact Static Generator momentarily powers the 7160 Bar so that the film becomes charged just before it is cut by the knife. The free end of the charged film then sticks to the new empty core as it begins winding.
