Using Electrostatics to Apply Protective Films
Electrostatics can be used to stick a protective film or paper to a sheet, for example, the protective plastic film found on stainless steel or polycarbonate sheets.
Using Electrostatics to Apply Protective Films - Select a problem:
The static charge from a 7160 Generator Bar will stick the protective film to a metal sheet. The metal sheet must be grounded through the rollers to act as the counter-electrode.
A similar set-up to the metal sheet solution is used for sticking a protective film to an acrylic or polycarbonate sheet. However, as the sheet is non-conductive, a separate counter-electrode in the form of a 660 Static Discharger is located immediately below the sheet.
