The Fraser team provide tailored solutions for customers regardless of the problem or uniqueness of the process

The Fraser team provide tailored solutions for customers regardless of the problem or uniqueness of the process.

Fraser Anti-Static Techniques have a long-standing relationship with Smith & McLaurin Ltd, who use a range of Fraser static solutions. Founded in 1849, Smith & McLaurin Ltd is a leading manufacturer and global supplier of self-adhesive label, ticket and tag products. With 88 employees, it supplies materials to a wide variety of industries and companies including leading retailers, global beverage and food brands, and pharmaceutical companies.

THE PROBLEM
As manufacturers of pressure sensitive label, ticket and tag material, static issues are a common problem for the team at Smith & McLaurin Ltd. Some processes within label printing and converting can generate large volumes of static, which in turn leads to operator shocks, product rejection and production delays.

Smith & McLaurin also face a unique issue with controlling static, as production is based in a listed building from the 1800’s with tight spaces that don’t always accommodate off-the-shelf solutions.

THE SOLUTION

The Fraser team specialises in working together with customers, regardless of the problem or uniqueness of the process, to deliver a static control solution that satisfies both needs and budget. The team visited the Smith & McLaurin site, to understand how best they could support the global exporter, whilst accommodating their unique location needs. The Fraser specialists recommended a suite of products – from passive static control by way of anti-static cord for the less problematic areas, through to Fraser’s most powerful bar the X-33.

THE RESULTS

“We have been using Fraser products for many years on our coating and slitting machines. We have gained total trust in the Fraser team and their products for their  performance, reliability, and the level of operator safety they provide.

Effective anti-static measures are vitally important in our industry due to the high levels of static that filmic materials can hold. We have been working with the Fraser team to upgrade to the latest X-SERIES Intelligent bars which have found to be easy to install, very effective on all materials and maintenance friendly.

We would not hesitate in recommending Fraser Anti-Static Techniques and its products.”

Jim Yule, Chief Engineer, Smith & McLaurin Ltd
