Electrostatic Adhesion for Non-Stop Winding
Non-stop winding is frequently used on printing and converting applications where the machine cannot be stopped to swap a rewind reel when it is full. Static generation provides temporary adhesion to begin the next reel. It replaces manual and automatic taping machines.

Double-sided tape was the original method of holding the web to the new reel, but this uses considerable resource. One customer was using $100K of double-sided sticky tape every year throughout its factories.
Using electrostatics is a more productive and cost-effective process for pinning the film to the winder core.
Electrostatic Adhesion for Non-Stop Winding - Select a problem:
A 7160 Generator Bar covering the full film width is positioned before the knife, above the core in its reel-change position. An IONFIX Compact or PRO Static Generator momentarily powers the 7160 Generator Bar so that the film becomes charged just before the knife cuts the film. The free end of the charged film sticks to the new empty core as it begins winding.
