Electrostatics can be used to squeeze the air out of multi-layer products, such as rubbish or refuse bags, so that the end-product is as compact and tightly wound as possible.

A static generation system can be used to squeeze the air out of multi-layer products, such as rubbish or refuse bags, so that the end-product is as compact as possible.

The two sides of the web have a different charge: one positive, the other negative.  A static generation bar one side of the web and a counter-electrode on the other side will create a strong adhesion and exclude the air.  This will also ensure a tight reel with no loose tail.

Compact Winding and Air Exclusion in Bag Production - Select a problem:

Continuous rolls of plastic bags, for example bin bags or refuse sacks, are produced on one long machine. Static generators are used to hold the two layers of material closely together to exclude air. Air between the layers makes the reel of bags too big. Typically this requires a single 7160 Generator Bar, powered by an IONFIX Compact Generator, and a simple counter electrode.

If air does not need to be excluded, a compact reel can be achieved with a 7160 Generator Bar, powered by an IONFIX Compact Static Generator, charging the reel as it winds. This static generator bar can also help the web attach to the cardboard core at the beginning of the wind.
